What is the easiest way to get involved with the English Society? Show up!

The English Society hosts weekly events throughout the school year, and we're always thrilled to see new faces! Outside of what we've lovingly dubbed our "special events," meetings are every Wednesday at 7:30pm in 304 EPB (Gerber Lounge).

If you would like to participate in English Society, but are unable to, please let us know by emailing studorg-english-society@uiowa.edu

For more events going on in the literary community around Iowa City and on the University campus, check out the opportunites listed here:

Are there other ways to get involved with the English Society? Of course!

The English Society hosts weekly events throughout the school year. All you have to do is show up and hang out with some fantastic and creative people!

Regular meetings are held every Wednesday at 7:30pm in 304 EPB (Gerber Lounge).

Ocassional special events are held throughout the semester as well. Bring a friend and have fun or learn something new about an English-relevant topic.

Another easy way to get involved is to join our mailing list! We send out regular emails with reminders about events and other announcements. You can join our mailing list by filling out the form linked below and/or by following us on Instagram.

We encourage all interested students to join the Gerber Group, an initiative to connect students with organizations and peers around campus who have similar goals and ideas regarding how they want to be involved in the English community. Involvement opportunities might include: writing groups, lit mags, book clubs, etc. The Gerber Group Initiative is the English Society's way of better connecting the English-minded community at the University of Iowa.

But what if I want to do more than just attend events? Never fear!

The English Society holds officer elections every spring. When the time comes to pass the baton from old officers to new, all are welcome to apply to become an English Society Officer!
