Community Calendar

There are always literary events happening in Iowa City, and not all of them are affiliated with the University! Some other calendars you can check to stay up to date with what's going on in the Iowa City lit scene are listed below:

• Prairie Lights: Prairie Lights is a staple of Iowa City's literary community. With regular readings and events, there is always something new going on at this joint bookstore and café.
• The English Department: The University of Iowa's English Department has a comprehensive calendar dedicated to events around campus that are directly affiliated with the department itself. This is an excellent resource for both literary events, as well as staying up to date with what the English Department is up to!
• The Iowa Writers' Workshop: The IWW regularly hosts readings and talks from alumni and faculty. Staying up to date with events hosted at the Dey House or in collaboration with the IWW is a great way to learn more about the many acclaimed writers who have come through Iowa City.
• Write at the Stanley: A Generative Writing Workshop | Stanley Museum of Art - The University of Iowa: Join us monthly to generate new creative writing inspired by works in the Stanley collection. Each session will be led by a different talented writer from our area, who will be offering a new prompt and a new approach to ekphrastic writing (writing inspired by visual art). Bring your own notebook and pencil or computer and leave with the beginning of a newly written piece. Teen and adult writers in all genres are welcome.
